It is with great sadness that we report the loss of our colleague Ff Alan Kynoch of Grampian Fire & Rescue Service. Alan suddenly passed away on Friday 18th June 2010 after completing a night shift at Elgin City fire station.

The Service has recently agreed a one year contract with AXA-ICAS to provide a full employee welfare programme to all of our staff and their families which will commence form September 1st 2008.

Individual letters have been sent to all staff introducing the scheme and its benefits to them. Included is a ‘Z’ card which summarises the benefits available to them and gives information for both web site and telephone access to the various services.

Briefing sessions have been organised at HQ / the station for the end of August. These have been scheduled to accommodate A1 shift patterns to ensure inclusion of all whole time firefighters at Inverness, and all full time staff will be invited to attend one of these sessions.

To ensure that the retained staff are equally aware of the additional benefits to them, a DVD has been developed which will be given to all Station Managers and they will play the DVD as part of their training night. It has been developed to cover the same areas as those covered in the briefing sessions.

In addition, an article will appear in this months newsletter, and staff will also receive materials by e-mail.

For your information I have included a copy of the services that ICAS will provide on the services behalf.
