The RFU is working flat out to lobby political figures from all parties on the importance of maintaining the Opt-Out which allows all RDS to combine their primary employment with the important duties as firefighters.

We are confident that RFU members not only support what we’re doing but that many would be prepared to write to their own MP/MSP/Assembly Member as part of this campaign.

Writing to your elected MP/MSP/Assembly Member is not as difficult as it seems, firstly you need to find out who they are, their postal address and email etc however the following method is easier and very often more convenient.

In your own words, explain the implications for your community if you and your colleagues are forced to leave the service in the event that the opt-out is removed. It could be that the nearest available fire appliances are many miles away. This will help to develop the best understanding of how important this issue is to your community.
